Kronberg im Taunus is a town of 18,000 inhabitants, near Frankfurt, nestling in greenery between 200 and 400 metres altitude on the Altkönig mountain (796 metres). It is a place for rest and holidayswith hugeparks, gardens, forests, and many open air activities: Golf,tennis, luge, skiing, curling. Walking. The spring waters of the valley, called "Kronthaler", are recommended for rheumatism, cough, and fatigue.
On 2 September 1972: Kronberg and Le Lavandou have sealed a twinning agreement which is put into action every year with cultural exchanges and friendship. Kronberg has retained its historically grown character in many places over the centuries. The castle as the origin of the settlement and the picturesque streets with their medieval half-timbered houses determine the atmosphere of the core city of Kronberg. Upper middle-class villas and summer houses from the turn of the last century with the surrounding park-like gardens characterize the Schönberg district in particular, while Oberhöchstadt can score as a distinctive local supply center around the modern built-up center of Dalles. |
